Ms. Schwery's 

Dear Parents,

My name is Emily Schwery and I will be your child's teacher this year. I am excited to get to know each of your children and help them learn and grow throughout the year. Before I get to know each of you and your children, I thought you might like to know a little more about me.

​

I am 23 years old and from a small town in south west Iowa. I grew up in a rather large family with five siblings. I also have seven nieces and nephews. Growing up, my mom ran an in-home childcare. She has been running this in-home childcare for 26 years now, so I have been around children my whole life. I have my associate degree in Early Childhood Education from Iowa Western Community College. While at Iowa Western, I worked at their Preschool Center for 2 years and volunteered to work at the local homeless shelter with the children there. After Iowa Western, I went to Iowa State. While attending Iowa State, I worked in preschool classrooms, kindergarten classrooms, and a third grade classroom. I graduated from Iowa State in May of 2017 with my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with my endorsement in Special Education.

This year will be my first year teaching in my own kindergarten classroom but I am more than prepared and very excited. If there is anything else you would like to know, please feel free to email me.
